Ngày 5/4, trong khuôn khổ chuyến thăm Ailen, Thứ trưởng Phùng Đức Tiến có buổi gặp và làm việc với Tổng Cục trưởng phụ trách vấn đề kinh tế của Bộ Ngoại giao Ailen.

Thứ trưởng Phùng Đức Tiến khẳng định, Ailen là đối tác quan trọng của Việt Nam, đặc biệt trong bối cảnh Hiệp định thương mại tự do Việt Nam – EU (EVFTA) được thực thi. Trong khi đó, lĩnh vực nông sản và thực phẩm của Ailen có thế mạnh hàng đầu thế giới.

Với tiềm năng rộng mở của hai bên, lãnh đạo Bộ NN-PTNT mong muốn Việt Nam có thể tăng cường quan hệ hợp tác với Ailen trong nhiều lĩnh vực như nông nghiệp, chăn nuôi, an toàn thực phẩm, an ninh lương thực, chuyển đổi số và biến đổi khí hậu.

Giới thiệu về những thành tựu của ngành nông nghiệp Việt Nam trong thời gian qua, Thứ trưởng Phùng Đức Tiến thông tin, tổng kim ngạch xuất khẩu nông sản năm 2022 đạt trên 53.22 tỷ USD, tăng 30% so với năm 2021. Lãnh đạo Bộ NN-PTNT cũng nhấn mạnh một trong những nhiệm vụ trọng tâm của Việt Nam là bảo đảm an ninh lương thực, ứng phó biến đổi khí hậu, hướng tới mục tiêu xây dựng hệ thống lương thực, thực phẩm minh bạch, trách nhiệm, bền vững.

Tuy nhiên, Thứ trưởng cho biết trong bối cảnh của nước có thu nhập thấp, sản xuất nông nghiệp của Việt Nam còn đứng trước nhiều thách thức như khả năng cạnh tranh để hội nhập sâu rộng hơn còn yếu, thiếu tính bền vững, ứng dụng khoa học công nghệ còn hạn chế, khó khăn trong thu hút vốn đầu tư vào lĩnh vực nông nghiệp. Bên cạnh đó, cần nâng cao khả năng ứng phó với biến đổi khí hậu, thiên tai, dịch bệnh…

Nói về quan hệ hợp tác nông nghiệp giữa hai bên, Thứ trưởng Phùng Đức Tiến cho biết, Bộ Ngoại giao Ailen đã có nhiều hoạt động nghiên cứu, hỗ trợ kỹ thuật đóng góp vào sự phát triển của ngành nông nghiệp Việt Nam.

Tại buổi làm việc, Thứ trưởng Phùng Đức Tiến cũng thông tin, Bộ NN-PTNT đã làm việc với Bộ Nông nghiệp, Thực phẩm và Biển Ailen và đề xuất xây dựng kế hoạch hành động giữa 2 bộ giai đoạn 2023-2025. Hai Bộ sẽ ký Bản ghi nhớ về hợp tác nông nghiệp và thủy sản vào ngày 6/4 (giờ địa phương).

“Trên cơ sở đó, tôi mong ngài với cương vị của mình tiếp tục ủng hộ Việt Nam thông qua các chương trình, dự án nhằm nâng cao năng lực cho ngành và đặc biệt đào tạo đội ngũ cán bộ chuyên môn sâu với kinh nghiệm và sự phát triển bền vững của Ailen”, Thứ trưởng Phùng Đức Tiến chia sẻ.
